According to the FDA's data, side-effects from Fosamax®* are not common, but they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these side-effects are severe or do not go away:


· gas
· bloating
· constipation
· diarrhea
· stomach irritation or upset stomach
· acid regurgitation (reflux)
· stomach pain
· headache
· muscle or bone pain


If you experience any of the following side-effects, call your doctor immediately:


· difficulty swallowing
· pain during swallowing
· chest pain
· new or worsening heartburn
· vomiting blood

 




*Fosamax® is marketed by Merck as a treatment for osteoporosis. The active ingredient is alendronate.
